2 December 2013
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a great day. I was able to play basketball for the first time on my mission, read your emails, and we also had a zone activity. Then to top it off this week I was able to travel down to Iloilo for a mission Christmas party.
This past week was pretty crazy in that it didn’t consist of the normal schedule. On Wednesday we moved from our apartment which took most of the day. Our new place doesn’t have power. It is a lot smaller than the previous apartment and is a compound to a house. The kitchen is outside and at the moment there are no cabinets to put our clothes in but it is nice enough. We went down to Iloilo City on Thursday for the Christmas party. It was fun. Each zone prepared a skit, There was a gift exchange, games, and dinner. I got to sleep at the mission home for the first time and it was so nice. I was able to take a normal hot shower for the first time! We didn’t get back to Kalibo until late Friday and we went to a ward baptism. On Saturday we went to another baptism, then finally taught some lessons, and later did some service. We did a lot of laba as service. (laba is washing clothes)
Jesel has been doing really good at continuing to come to church but she still can’t be baptized because she doesn’t want to get married. But her testimony continues to grow and it is great to see her coming to church. I can’t tell you how many times we have taught the law of chastity to her, and the different ways we have approached it, but she still doesn’t understand it fully.
Kevin De Felipe is progressing. We have been helping him with the Word of Wisdom. His father has recently stopped taking the lessons from us for the moment and Fhareson (brother) is also progressing just not as fast as Kevin. Fhareson always has many questions and some of them don’t relate to the topic we are teaching, so it is sometimes hard to keep control of the lesson.
Maylin is progressing the most. She is now keeping the word of wisdom and came to church. She is reading the Book of Mormon as well and has a great desire to be baptized. It turns out though that she needs to get married as well. We didn’t know until recently that she wasn’t married to her husband.
Brother Bullos continues to come to church and just serve everyone he sees. We haven’t been able to teach him this past week but we will this week. I am excited to continue to teach him and his family. He is always so happy and cheerful and I know that with the gospel in his life he will be able to have a happier life and greater blessings.
The chapel at church is still full of people and it continues to just fill my heart with so much joy to see so many people at church. There are so many people we need to visit but it slow progress due to the service and the time we took out this week to move and go to Iloilo. This coming week will be much better and we will get more lessons in. It has been too long since I have taught a lesson and practiced my Tagalog.
Thank you for your love and support. I feel your love and prayers. Just remember to continue to serve and love others. Even just by doing the little things can bring about a huge difference.
I love you all!
